2018 Outlook for Alaska Crab Production

Crab season in Alaska is here for 2018. Our latest data from Alaska shows healthy supply of both Dungeness and King crabs. 

For Dungeness crab, harvest in Southeast Alaska is ongoing. We can expect a summer harvest pegged at 2.25 million pounds.

A red king crab fishery is underway at Norton Sound. However this year king crab harvest is limited to 290,282 pounds.

We can expect healthy Golden king crab along the Aleutians which will open on Aug. 1 with a 6.3 million pound harvest.
